HelpAge & Hungry Heart Festival
*What would a theatrical musical extravaganza have in common with Raj Kapoor & the Aged?* The answer would be TIME. In aid of HelpAge India, an organization working for the elderly, set under the umbrella of “Nostalgia,” comes Hungry Heart Festival’s latest production “RUBARU: RK in Russia”
While the theatre proceeds like a linear fast paced narrative laced with humour, philosophy, sarcasm and wit, the film captures their inner world, complexities, struggles, insecurities, and the subconscious through a surreal and associative visual subtext. Both film and theatre realise the vision of the play and take the story forward as their chirpy façade of togetherness morphs into a fierce battle for survival against scarcity of resources and sanity of their spirit. As they realize, the dream ends. And that is the twist in the tale!
